Would my to-be Bulgarian spouse have any restrictions ?

Post by Tan1956 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 6:04 pm

I have been seeing a Bulgarian woman for more than two years and I would like to learn if she came to the UK to live with me, would there be some/ any restrictions ..?

I am on ESA, I have been informed that this may restrict her entry .
Is this correct? ... Thank you ........

Would she be entering the UK as your spouse under UK immigration rules of would she enter under EU rules?

If she enters under EU rules there are certain restrictions on her work in an employment capacity. Self-employment is unrestricted.

Hopefully she would be entering the UK as my spouse under UK immigration rules ..

If this is not the best way, please inform me otherwise ..

Thank you.

The UK immigration route as your spouse is fine if you can afford the fees and have the required level of maintenance. Do you have this?

Otherwise. she could live in the UK as a Bulgarian national but for that she would need to be exercising a treaty right. This could be work (but restricted if not self-employment) or she could be self-sufficient based on your income. For self-sufficiency she would need comprehensive medical insurance.

afford the fees
Does anyone have any idea what the fees are .?

Being a X serviceman on ESA and all you want in life is to have someone who loves you close to you, sure dont sound easy..

Suppose i was to make this woman my wife, would this make any difference ..?

Unfortunately the Home Office don't intend for it to be easy, which is why they've made the regulations tougher.
The initial visa fee for a spouse is £826.
