Planning to give birth in India

Post by sekhar_software » Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:03 am

Hi Team,

I am a British Citizen (naturalised) but my wife is on ILR. She is pregnant now and would prefer to give birth in India. How difficult it is to get British passport to the baby when i am India.

My questions:
1) Is it possible to get British Passport for my new baby (Only me being British Citizen and not my Wife)
2) How long does it take to get British passport after the baby is born (minimum how many months)?
3) If it takes too long from India, we would like to bring the baby to UK (on Indian passport) and try to get British passport from this country (even if it takes longer time).

I know there are lot of questions but, i really appreciate if someone could guide me on how to plan this!

Thanks,
Raj

Thanks. It looks like it will take more than 6 months to get the passport for a new born baby in India.

Thanks,
Raj
