3rd party support was removed as part of the new rules.

Your wife will need to work in order to bring you over. Can her father employ her for 6 months to provide the relevant income? Can her father give her the necessary £60-odd thousand in savings for the time (3 years) instead?

If that isn't a valid prospect - I suggest you look at the other choice - she moves to be with you.

Perhaps you both can decide to move to Spain or Ireland under EU law, provided she secure employment there, you could move to UK again after a while under Community law, if that is an option for you.

Post by SAMISPOUSAL » Fri Jan 25, 2013 12:05 pm

what is this £ 60 000 FOR THREE YEARS ?

DOES THE SPONSOR HAVE TO SHOW liquid savings over 3 years ????

is it not over the last 6 months or so ?

The reason for 3 years is that the money has to be shown AGAIN at the 2.5 year point - so it has to be in her/your account for the 6 months prior to the application, and then again at 2.5 years unless you can then rely on other income.

Given the OP currently unemployed, and so is their partner, you'd have to be pretty confident of getting employment and retaining it during that time, to not require the savings again at that point.

Could you apply for a visiting visa while she sorts out getting a job?
