How do you know when your visa is denied?

Post by Jumbotron » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:30 am

Hello everybody, speaking strictly about US citizens and French student visas, how do you know if your student visa has been denied? If they take your passport at the appointment is there still a possibility that your passport will be returned without a visa? If they were going to deny you, would they have just told you at the appointment where they looked at your papers instead of taking your passport for processing?

If your passport is taken, you can still be denied a visa. The guys collecting your documents are not the ones deciding if yo will hgeta visa or not. Its only when you get your passport back thaty ou can be sure if you are denied a visa or not!

Agree. My girlfriend applied for a Schengen visa, they kept her passport. They gave her back the passport in another appointment, and urged her to leave the Embassy immediately. When she was already outside, she found a form folded into the passport stating the denial.

Seems like they didn´t feel like discussing the denial on the spot. To prevent this, check your passport when picking it up before doing anything else.

This happened in the German Embassy in Beirut.

There is no 100% guaranteed point. After all they can make mistakes, and then correct them, even after the sticky paper visa is in the passport.

What make you concerned about your specific application? Criminal record? Past immigration problems with respect to an EU member state?

If you are just generic John from Iowa, and have never been to Europe before, you will be unlikely to be refused.
