Regarding referees

Hi All
I just wanted to know about the referees for Form AN. Can a doctor sign as one of the referees (as a professional referee)? The reason I am asking is that the list of referees does not include doctors.

Yes. I got a surgeon as my refree. Was reading a thread about why doctors have been removed from the list. Apparently GPs requested to be removed as lot of people making GP appointments for the references and their time is not being well spent to attend patients.
