Withdrawing Application at Embassy and Appearing at Border

Post by frency » Tue Aug 21, 2012 4:37 pm

Dear Forum members,

I have withdrawn my documents for an EEA Permit since the UK Embassy in my country was taking to long. They said that its normal to take up to three months.

I am planning to go to France and get this permit from UKBA there. I am travelling by myself since my partner is already in the UK.

Could you please tell me where is the best place to do this?

If I travel by Eurolines (Paris-London) can I get the EEA Permit from the Eurostar UKBA Offices in Paris, or is this office only for train passengers?

If not would I have to get this permit from Calais UKBA and would this mean that I may lose the bus ticket in case they keep me longer at the border check?

Also, would I be refused since partner is not travelling with me?

I will present to the officers all docs I gave at Embassy, including Application Form and partner's work contract. My partner said that it might be hard for them to come to Calais due to work commitments.

Any advice on how to proceed would be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Frency

You can only get the EEA Family Permit from a British consulate. Who told you it would take up to three months and how long did you actually wait before withdrawing your application? It should not take more than week (or two at most)!

Furthermore, do you have an entry visa for France?

Hello,

Thanks for reply!

The Embassy staff told me it would take 3 months, verbally and written.

I do have an entry visa for France.

Would you know where it is best to appear? UKBA Paris or Calais?

Best regards,

Frency

Which is in Paris. You will have to wait in Paris while the application is processed. The fact that you applied and withdrew an application in another country, and have an adverse immigration record, will all be in your file, so you can expect an extended wait time while all of this is investigated. Do you have the resources to wait in Paris for what could be a few weeks?
