abroad address for 9 monts on AN form

Hi,
just wandered if someone could reassure...

our situation in a nutshell:
EEA nationals, A8
arrived in IK in 2004 (working, studying),
Perm Residence (blue insert) granted in 2009,
between 09.2009-.09.2010 time spent abroad on work secondment to complete university course, have Uk addresses for the time until 12.2009, then used a foreigh address for 9 months until 09.2010, although used our friends' UK address a a correpsondence addr.

question:
how do you think in 'previous addresses' section I should put the aboroad address or can I use the friends' uk addr we used as for correspondence?
how would they percieve having living for 9 months abroad, i mean having abroad adress for that period?

what would be best to put on the form?

just to add:
we meet all the other requirements (except the no. of absencess, but on the basis of long- 8 years residence- hoping it be disregarded) and can demonstrate links with UK during absencess (that was a work secondment and I was obliged to return on completion of my course)
