Surname & forename swapped on passport

Post by mmuj » Fri Aug 24, 2012 12:03 am

Hi
I am TIER 2 VISA holder and applying for ILR in couple of weeks time. I have just found that on my Passport surname & forename is swapped. Although my last Visa was issued on the same passport but could it be a problem this time?

Cheers

I have got somewhat similar issue,

I want advice on the following problem.

My first passport did not separate the first name and surname and it was written as Syed Ozair Abbas. 'Ozair' is my given name and 'Syed' and 'Abbas' are my family names.

When i came to UK, i had my bank accounts and everything else with Ozair Abbas as given name and Syed as my surname. So all of my supporting documents, my payslips etc are named as Ozair Abbas, Syed or O A Syed.

Now here is the problem. My passport expired, i got a new one and they put 'Abbas' as surname. I applied through a lawyer for my previous visas so i dont know how they filled out the form.

My question:
I should mention my First Name as 'Syed Ozair' and surname as 'Abbas' as on the valid passport.

There is a section in the form just after the name of the main applicant which says 'Also known as'. Should i mention 'Ozair Abbas Syed' in that part of the form? Would this complicate the case or should i leave it blank and explain it in person to the CW.

I have a PEO appointment booked for 3rd October.

Thanks in advance!
