Child Citizenship From India

Post by thegreatgill » Sun Aug 26, 2012 8:07 am

Dear All,
Me and my wife have just got ILR in UK and we have a 1 year old child who was born in UK, and now in india with my parents. The UK visa on my daugher's passport has now expired. I know that my daugher is eligible for UK citizenship as we have now got ILR. I am not sure what is the best way to get my daugher to UK,, Or can we apply for her UK Citizenship and Passport from India.
Thanks in advance for your help..

from outside uk
1st step..register as british citizen using MN1........takes abt 3mths
2nd step....then appply for british passport.........takes abt 1+ mths

or just bring ur child on family visit visa takes abt a month..BUT (no free nhs/medical)...then MN1 and then british passport......

u could do as i did if u r willing to take some risk........apply MN1 from uk (have to mention baby current addresss as uk) as mn1 applications/passport are supposed to be applied from where baby is present........then apply for passsport in uk saying baby is in uk.....

my mn1 has been successfull ( took 10wks ) and currently in process of applying for passport.....

Risk? That's committing a fraud and you are encouraging others to do the same? What if some on reports you?

Recent changes mean that MN1 application should be made to the HO in the UK in both cases (UK present or abroad). So there is no need to have a UK address. See 'Receiving authority' changes for applications made abroad.

Once the application has been granted, apply for a passport from the country the child is present.
