Questions Regarding Claiming Benefits

Post by Sapphire » Mon Aug 27, 2012 12:43 pm

HI Experts

Hope I wont take much time of yours....but I just need some quick answer if anyone can help?

I got my ILR recently on 15-Aug-2012 which enabled me to claim benefits

I am working full time and has salary around £34K; however my wife never worked in UK as she is looking after our 3 kids (2 born in UK and one in Pakistan)

I did go through below link and my understanding is that I can claim child benifits for my 3 kids as well as my wife can claim tax credits? As she is not working coz of kids

Is my understanding correct? Please advice

You can claim child benefit. Child tax credits have to be claimed jointly so your income will be taken into account. You may be entitled to a small amount given you have 3 children but your income is close to the cut off threshold.
