British Man Marrying Russian Fiancee - Work in Ireland ...

Post by telephone » Tue Aug 28, 2012 11:38 am

... but then what?

I'm British, about to marry Russian fiancee, in Russia.

I'm UK based, freelance, but don't meet the new earning requirement, so I am looking to set up a business in Ireland.

Fiancee to travel there with me immediately after marriage, then later (ASAP!) we want to permanently return to the UK. (We have been together in the UK previously, but only for a few weeks at a time).

Questions (please!)
How long do we need to work in Ireland for before simply presenting ourselves at the UK border (ferry, presumably?) (if we can do that) and return to stay in the UK - I'll keep my rented flat going and we plan to rent a holiday cottage in Ireland.

If we just arrive in the UK after proof of business abroad with Irish company sole trader registration, accounts, business cards, can she be admitted at the border and then apply for UK residence card?

Marriage Certificarte will be in Russian, with translation - do we need an Apostille, too?

How do we get her from small Russian town to Ireland with no Visa? I appreciate she doesn't need a Irish Visa as my wife, but realistically, the Russian local airport may deny her boarding, of course.

She's very scared of doing something wrong, understandably!
Any other advice / thoughts / help would be greatly appreciated - thank you from us both!
