Type of jobs & ILR eligibility under Tier2 General Visa

What kind of jobs can be allowed under Tier 2 General Visa?

I am planning to apply for Tier 2 general visa based on CoS from one of the UK based agency but it initially offers me a role for shorter duration than a duration given in CoS document I believe.

Then if I think to find out other job then should i eligible to work for other company under same CoS??? The answer will be No. I may need to apply for separate CoS but can my previous agency be treated as mediator to work for Third Party Company or not for both kind of permanent or Contract jobs?

Second question is, my initial permit will be 3 years + 3 year extension under Tier 2 general visa category, and then how should I plan or eligibility for ILR (Permanente Residency) under same category going forward?
