Dear all,
I'm in a dilemma and seek expert advice. I met a good Samaritan online who strongly recommended your site and I really hope to find some guidance. My wife had a baby a few days back and I queued up at Indian High Commission for the child's passport like everyone else. However, I was told the mother's name in the birth certificate is slightly different than in her passport and was asked to get it updated. The point is she adds her father's name on some occasions in the middle of her name ( as in some families) and the same was entered in the birth certificate provided by the local council in UK. However, her name is without her middle (father's) name in the passport (though her father's name is mentioned separately in the passport) but not as one single name. Now, our Visas expire in a month or so and I was led to understand the correction in the child's birth certificate to remove her middle ( father's) name will take 4-8 weeks. Someone told me an affidavit to reconcile both names can work but I need confirmation. Can anyone kindly advise on what to do? I don't obviously have the time to wait and get the certificate updated ( though I initiated the change process) and at the same time can't afford to have our visas expire before the baby's passport is ready? Any feedback on what to do to get the passport application accepted is deeply appreciated. Did you run into a similar situation and resolve it?
