Subsequent immigration of wife (non-EU)

Post by mo rice-oxley » Sat Sep 08, 2012 6:14 am

Good morning everyone,

My story is a little bit complicated. I am Egyptian and now holding a national visa (D) for gainful employment and will travel to Germany in the coming 10 days. I know then, that I will need to apply to a residence/work permit once I arrive to Germany (in the area where I intend to stay) and I have got already a rented flat there.

My girlfriend is Ukrainian (non EU) and we were intending to get married before my visa application date in Egypt, but when we went to marry we found one missing paper and we couldn't get married before my visa application date at the German missions in Cairo/Egypt.

Now after I got the visa on my passport, am I allowed to marry her here before I travel or it will cause them in Germany to be confused that at that time when I applied for the visa I was single and now after obtaining it I became married? (because the same application for Visa which we have to fill at the German missions abroad, is the same application which we have to fill at the German Foreign office in Germany at the place of residence)

Thanks in advance,

Mo.
