Schengen multiple entry visa - travel insurance

Post by paji1034 » Sat Sep 08, 2012 8:34 pm

I am preparing my documents for Schengen family visit visa.

We are travelling to Italy first and will take cruise trip to different states in Schengen and will also trip to Montenegro and Turkey and then back to Italy. Then we will fly back to UK. Cruise trip is 11 days in total.

I am requesting for multiple entry visa for myself and my wife.

Any suggestion regarding best Insurance policy. I was reading on the internet that I should get full one year family travel insurance as I am requesting multiple entry visit visa?

Any suggestions?

You just need to have travel insurance that adequately covers the countries you are visiting and for the duration of your visit.

You may find it more economic to take out an annual policy, but that's a separate issue of course.

Schengen visa travel insurance

You can request a multiple entry Schengen visa but it is no way quaranteed.

You definately need travel insurance for the whole duration.

Take a look at http://www.schengenvisas.org/schengen-travel-insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory when applying for a Schengen visa.

The travel insurance should include medical evacuation / repatriation coverage of at least EURO 30,000. The insurance company must have a representative office in Europe and the insurance must be valid for duration of stay in the Schengen states.

If you have your travel insurance with your bank, you must provide a letter from your bank
confirming that the customer is entitled to the travel insurance plus a recent bank statement from that
account.

I applied for a "Visit to Family or Friends" Visa type C before at the German embassy several times and always applied for a multiple-entry visa. My travel insurance was only covering my intended period of stay.

The minimum of 1-Year health insurance is because in most cases people travel and come back after a long period of time and the Schengen Visa (type C) allows its holder to stay in the EU states 60 days over a 120 days period.
