EEA family permit - Endorsed passport copy

Post by pakesoy » Mon Sep 10, 2012 6:49 pm

Hi,

I'm a Spanish national that will marry soon in Turkey with my lovely Turkish fiancée. I've been reading through this forum and gathering all the documentation needed, but I have some doubts about one document and I would like some input, maybe from someone who has had a similar experience.
One of the supporting documents is:
  • - A copy of the EEA national's passport, endorsed by the EEA national's embassy in the country of application.

I'm living and working in London and have been here for more than 2 years. For me it would be easier to certify a copy of my passport in the Spanish consulate in London, but I'm not sure if it's a strict requirement to certify it in the same country where we make the application for the permit.

Many thanks in advance!

It's not a strict requirement. The Spanish consulate in London would be fine. See endorsment.

As a general rule, the forum search function is very easy to use. A search for "endorsment" in the EEA posts would show you previous discussions on this issue.

(I'm not picking on you. Just pointing to a helpful tool here).

This comes up pretty regularly, it would be helpful if the UKBA updated their website with the precise requirements (form says one thing, website says another).

I tend to never find what I want when using the forum search tool. I get 100 pages of random results that do not seem to be related to my search.

I find searching this forum using Google is a lot more effective.
