It depends.

How long you have been living in UK. When was the case filed. Where you in India at the time when it was filed or your wife traveled to India and filed the case while you were here. If you both been living in the UK and the incident happened here then the compliant should be filed with UK authorities.

I believe UKBA has no way to check this with Indian policy records. You are not yet convicted but accused. Innocent until proven guilty.
