Baby MN1 form *

Post by Vijay.pailla » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:42 pm

Hi all,

First thing, I want to thank all the moderators and the seniors who are helping the new applicants. This thread is worth a lot and is a life changing one.

Please help me in knowing the below requested information,

I will be applying for my ILR on 16th November 2012. I will be applying FLR (M) for my wife as a dependent after my ILR approval.

1. I am expecting a baby in end of September 2012, before my ILR application which is in November 2012. I am planning not to include the baby on my ILR dependent form and apply for a citizenship after my ILR.

Please let me know if I need to apply MN1 form if so, when to apply and where. I am planning to get a full registration of my baby after birth but am not sure of this so called MN1 form.

Please update me on the above.

Kind Regards
VJ

I think once your baby is born in UK and then you get ILR, you just need to get the Birth certificate from local council office. After your ILR, you would need to fill MN1 form and apply for british born child passport.

Thank you very much vivekmarwah and wpilr_nov12.

So, I will register my baby birth at the registrat office but not apply for any other MN1 or Birth Certificate until I get my ILR approved.

Once I get my ILR approved I will apply for Birth Certificate from the City Council and fill in the MN1 form and apply for the Citizenship.

Hope, that is what the documentation and your guidance says me.

Please confirm me on this.

Thanks a lot again.

Regards
VJ

I think Birth certificate does not look at parent Visa situation. The MN1 form does.

However, it is logical to get Birth Certificate after ILR. The only caveat is in case you are planning to travel. Some people in the forum have stated that after MN1 form application etc, it takes couple of months to get British Passport. However, if you are not planning to travel after ILR, apply birth certificate, fill MN1 form, get docs verified through councils provided national checking service (NCS - Google it) and get the passport.

Hope it helps..

Thank you so much for the guidance vivekmarwah.

That helps me a lot.

I will proceed on with my application process and then plan about my wife's dependent VISA and baby's citizenship status.

Thank you so very much.

I hope you mean Citizenship/passport for child, and not birth certificate.

Birth certificate and ILR are not related to each other. However, you need to get the birth certificate for the child within 6 (or 8?) weeks, and only one parent (if married) need to be present, child need not be present as a confirming document will be provided by the hospital at birth. Make sure you get a 'long form' and a short form birth certificate. This is done at the registrars office located at your Council office (in my case, at least).

you have to register birth within 6 Weeks of child birth.

If you know what you are having and have already got a name in your mind then you can register the birth in hospital which will save you a lot of time. It does not matter if you register the birth before or after getting ILR.

Once you have ILR, use MN1 and apply and your baby will get passport.

Also, once you register birth, you will get a basic birth certificate but if you pay a tenner you can get a detailed birth certificate but they will advise you on that.
