ARE COUNCILS ALLOWED LEGALLY TO ACCEPT PARTIAL HB REPAYMENT?

Post by Siren » Wed Sep 12, 2012 1:28 pm

Anyone think it would be LEGALLY POSSIBLE to repay back the extra portion of HB (partners applicable amount) as a result of my spouse being on the HB claim, which my local council are insisting on including?

They are insisting that they are legally bound to include a partner with no recourse to public funds on the claim. Is there any reason why I couldn't just accept this extra amount to keep the councilhappy but repay the spouses applicable amount later on prior to ILR application?

Of course, I would need some kind of confirmation in writing from the council that I had replayed the spouses applicable amount for the ILR.

Anyone with any experience or knowledge of repaying HB please advice..

Thank you, siren
