Beneficiaries of the directive 2004/38/EC can work. You may find it difficult to persuade an employer to employ you, but neither employee nor employer would be doing anything illegal.

If you are married to an EU national living in the UK in accordance with the regulations, you can work.

Have you read 2004/38/EC?

my wife has been working for a company since 4 years.i have come to the UK as a student visitor visa and we got married in May.the end of June she applied for EEA1 so did i for EEA2.I didnt join her as a spouse but before i came to the UK,we were thinking of getting married and finally we did.So I wasnt allowed to work as a student visitor. Now I want to work before i got COA.Because i dont trust home office too much.they are waiting just for 6 month without doing anything.Under these conditions,Can I work without any documents because my all documents are home office now..thank you very much your advises

This is not correct at all and contradicts advice already given.

manojratainda, if you know better, please post references to back up your statements - bald unsubstantiated ones are of no use to anyone.

You are living in accordance with the terms of the directive. Your wife is a worker. You are married.

You are entitled to work.[/u]

Ok, your question is subtly different to the OPs. If your EU national family member satisfies the terms of the directive, you can work and it would not be illegal.

While you may struggle to prove entitlement, but that is not what the OP asked.

Hi Manoj I advice you to read EU law more in detail before you giving information to others

Regarding work as it clearly mentioned in UKBA website that family member of EEA national have right to live and work but it will be hard to conveince to employer your legal right untill you have documents in your hand, once you have received CEO you can work and apply for job anywhere in UK
