Applying for UK Dependant visa while working on F-1 US visa

Post by voyager » Sun Sep 16, 2012 1:41 am

I am an Indian passport holder currently on an F-1 student visa working in the USA. I plan to get married to my fiance who is on a Work permit visa in the UK. I had two questions:

1] Is it possible for me to apply for a Dependent visa for the uk at the UK embassy in New York,USA or will have to go to india and apply for the uk dependent visa?

Also if i do have to apply for the uk dependent visa from India (Country of citizenship) rather than from usa(country of temporary residence) can i apply online to the uk embassy in india while being in the usa by mailing my passport and supporting documents to india from usa.

2] If my dependant visa for uk gets approved, will my F-1 visa in the United states be void? Can i hold the uk dependent visa and still work in USA on my F-1 visa?

Thanks.

1. You may apply for entry clearance at a UK consulate in the US (through Worldbridge).
2. No. Yes.
