Visa Query

Post by damist » Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:30 am

Hi,

My Visa in the UK will be expiring soon and i already have a fiancee visa application with the US embassy in London. All i am waiting for is an invitation for visa interview at the US embassy since the petition has been approved by the US consulate and i already returned all the necessary documents and passed the medical examination. Now, i am scared my UK visa will expire before i get an invitation for visa interview from the London US embassy. Can i remain in the UK while waiting for the interview date?

Legally, no.
You become an overstayer in UK (illegal migrant) if you remain in the UK after expiry of your current leave.

And, if US laws do not allow you to submit an application in a country you are not a legal resident of, then overstaying may invalidate your US visa application anyways.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
