Spouse Naturalisation

Post by mkumar » Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:45 am

Hi,
I came to UK on work permit in Apr 2007.
I got married in Aug 2008 and my wife had her own work permit, she got her ILR in July 2009 and subsequently her naturalisation in Sept 2010.
I switched over to Spouse Visa in Nov 2009 and I had my ILR as dependent in March 2012 (applied in Oct 2011 through post)
When can I apply for Naturalisation? Can I apply in Nov 2012 under the 3year rule? or would I have to follow ILR+1yr rule?

I would think you can apply now (from March 2012 to be precise). 3 years requirement includes any legal stay so time before spouse visa can be counted (assuming you were resident in the UK then).

See Q1 & Q2 in Citizenship FAQs - Common Questions - Read before posting.
