Registering my 2 kids as british citizens form MN1

Hi all,

I need a bit of help regarding registering my 2 kids aged 9 and 5 as British Citizens. They were both born in the UK (I was overstayer at the time).
I was granted ILR in 2009. I managed to get my 2 kids Indefinite Leave to Enter.
Do I register them as British Citizens using the MN1 forms.
I was told that I have to get ILR first, which i think is not necessary.
Do I need a solicitor for this.
