UNMARRIED OR SAME-SEX PARTNER OF A BRITISH CITIZEN OR SETTLE

Post by jojobabyb » Mon Sep 24, 2012 1:18 am

I will be going through the naturalisation process in November and eventually be applying for the British passport. I have a long distance partner and we have been dating for over 5 years. He's currently in Hong Kong but planning to come to the UK next September. So will he be applying a visa under "UNMARRIED OR SAME-SEX PARTNER OF A BRITISH CITIZEN OR SETTLED PERSON" in the British Embassy in Hong Kong? We're not yet married. Many thanks. Anyone who has gone through a similar process can you please share your experience with me?

Since we've been in a long distance relationship, we can't provide any legal evidence that we've been living together for two year. He comes to visit me two or three times a year and I go to Hong Kong once a year during the summer.

If you are unmarried you are required to have lived together for at least 2 years in order to meet the requirements of the rules.

In such case, he cannot apply for entry clearance as unmarried / same gender partner.
