EHIC - S1 form and CA8454

Post by atucker » Mon Sep 24, 2012 2:24 pm

Hi there folks,

I am in the process of applying for a European Health Insurance Card for my wife who has moved her from Japan on a spouse visa for the initial period of 27 months.

On phoning the EHIC helpline I was told that she needed to provide a S1 form along with the regular EHIC application form.

I was then told to call HMRC to obtain an S1 form. HMRC told me that before I can get the S1 form we must submit an CA8454 (Application for health care in the European Economic Area).

Has anyone had to go to this route to get an EHIC? And as she is living her as my wife (I am a British Citizen) is this step necessary.

As always I am very grateful for any help anyone can give me.

Thank you!
