General or Family Visitor

Post by shrey.hyd » Wed Sep 26, 2012 7:36 pm

Hi,
I am working in UK on Tier 2 ITC Visa, my baby is due in Dec 2012 and planning to call my parents to UK for 6 months. My visa is going to expire in
Jan 2013 and I will apply for an extension in Jan. I have some queries and a quick response will be appreciated.

1. Should my parents apply for a General or Family Visitor?
2. If my parents apply for a Family visitor visa, will there visa end date be same as my visa end date (Jan 2013)?
3. Can my parents choose to apply for a General visitor visa instead of Family visitor visa?

Please help.

Thanks,

1. General (because you are not a settled resident of the UK and that is a requirement for the family visit category).
2. If they are granted, they will be granted a visa that is valid for six months; your short-dated leave will not matter. Six months is a long time to be away so their strong ties to home and motivation to return will need to be evidenced.
3. I think that has been answered.
