Tier 4 extension and school resumption date

I have just concluded a bachelors degree using a tier 4 visa. I have gotten an offer for an MBA in another school. The school resumes on the 10th of October and my visa expires on the 8th . Unfortunately, I didn't get my maintenance funds sorted on time.
If I submit a postal application 3 days before the school resumes, will my visa be refused, knowing it takes 4 - 8 weeks to process visas on the average. I tried very hard to secure a PEO booking slot for 3 weeks, but I wasn't able to.
Someone advise please.
