Why does an FBR trough SF consolate take so long?

Post by bobsowc » Sun Sep 30, 2012 12:16 pm

I have applied for my FBR thrpought the San Francisco consolate over six months ago with no response. They are unwilling to give me any answers regarding my application. Does anyone know why this process takes so long? Thank you for your input,

Robert

I don't know the answer to your question, but here is a similar thread.

Thank you for the thread. I have already read that thread and that is the reason I'm asking the question. That person received there's in eight months while San Francisco is telling me it's an 18-24 month waiting period. I'm wondering why there is such a discrepancy between the two consulates?

From personal experience i know it takes 2 weeks from Madrid and 14 months from Johannesburg. The differences are huge.
It all depends on how many people are applying.

That link said as of Sept. 4, 2012 it will no longer accept applications for FBR through the post. I did mine back in late March 2012. I expect that this does not apply to me as I filed mine before Sept. 2012.

Is that how you read it?

Thank you for your help,

Robert

I don't think the changes apply to you, but it looks like they are trying to improve matters for applicants. Like any changes, it may take some time to bed-in.

After a few e-mails, the San Francisco consulate has informed me that all applications that were accepted by mail prior to the new online process will be processed first. It will still be an 18-24 month long process.

This does not make any sense.....

I thought this new online application was going to help expedite everything...
