Getting child to the Bahamas to live

Post by cheds76 » Thu Nov 16, 2006 7:25 pm

A friend of mine is currently working in the Bahamas as a Teacher in a private school. She is Jamaican and wants her 2yr old daughter (who was born in the US but lives in Jamaica) to join her. She is currently married, but the husband is working in the US at the moment. Bahamas Immigration wants her to supply them with certain information which she can provide. Their is just one piece of information she is unclear on like myself which is a Letter of Custody. What does that mean? Who will provide her with it? What is it for? She's having difficulties getting cooperation from Immigration where that is concerned. Please Help!!!

It is not totally clear who is the father of the child? The husband? Or someone else?

If someone else, is the biological father still alive? Especially if that biological father is an ex-husband, a Court Order giving Sole Custody of the child to the mother would be needed.

In short, please supply more information.
