Advice needed - URGENT - Tier 1 General Visa application

Hi Everyone,

I really need your advice regarding my tier 1 (General) visa application.
My visa is going to be expired in May 2013 and i am planning to get married in Malaysia early December and to bring my wife to the UK.

My initial plan is to apply for the extension (2 years) next week by sending the application by post and hoping to get the visa by the end of November (before my trip to Malaysia), which is UNLIKELY to happen since there is so many delay in application at the moment. Plus, POE is fully booked until January 2013!

The reason why i choose to extend my visa now rather than next year is because of the application fees.

If i apply it now, i will pay £1500 for my application fees (application in the UK) and i will pay £800 for the dependent visa for my wife (application in Malaysia). Total of our application fees are £2300.

The other option is to apply for her dependent visa in Malaysia in December which is £800 and to renew our visa in May 2013 which is £1500 for main applicant plus £750 for dependent and it will cost me £3050 all together.

Do you think that my wife should come over here as a visitor and apply the visa afterwards (together with me)? Or should i apply for extension in Malaysia together with dependent visa (am i eligible to extend Tier 1 General visa in Malaysia or have they closed the application outside UK?)

-not sure why you think Peo appts are booked up until Jan 2013 considering they only release the appts 6 weeks in advance so half of November and all of Dec dates haven't even been released yet.

-if you apply early you will need to apply for a further extension to completed your 5 years for ilr so this will cost you more in the long run.

-tier 1 general is closed from outside the UK. You can only apply from inside.

-your wife cannot make a PBS dependent application from inside the UK if she is here as a visitor.

I totally agree with what you said. I will apply for the dependent visa after we get married in Malaysia and then apply for the extension by May 2013.

I have a few questions regarding this topic:

1) When do you think is the appropriate time for me to apply for my extension? Is it 28 days before expiry date which is around April 2013? The reason behind this is to ensure that i can complete my 5 years for ILR.

2) How long is the processing time for the Tier 1 General dependent visa application outside UK?
