Denied Entry

Post by monqlord » Sat Oct 06, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi,

I am a US citizen living in The Netherlands (with a permit and permanent work contract in The Netherlands) and recently got denied entry into the UK because I said I was going to record (for free) my album in the UK for 10 days and have a good time. They said that this was seen as work, and that I did not hold a work visa or permit or entertainers visa or anything. (though this is all a hobby and not professional or anything and I'm actually paying the studio to be able to record there).

I am wondering now, since I already had booked my hotel there if it's possible for me to try to get in just for holidays? I understand I can't work on my album there, but as I have taken off days from work and have paid for the hotel in full in advance, I may as well enjoy the countryside and my holiday and make the best of the situation.

Does anyone know if I am able to access the UK on that basis?

And what would happen if I get rejected again?

Thanks in advance!!

You are now obligated to apply for a visit visa before you leave the USA.

A little extra information: This was at the eurotunnel in France from Callais to Folkstone. You mean I have to get a visa before I come and not at the border at the airport? Even when I'm just a visitor for holidays now? Because I called an agency in the UK and they said I could try to go witht he proper documents (like a note from the recording studio that I am not coming to do work etc.)

Thanks in advance

It's not mandatory (to seek entry clearance in the form a visa issued by the British Consulate) but you will have a very difficult job convincing the Border Force to admit you given that you were recently refused entry.

oh and by the way, is it 100% certain I need a visa? Because it says we advise you to get a visa on the website, but it does not say you need to have one if you're just visiting as a US citizen.

I would show them my fundings, my permanent work contract somewhere else( which i have to get back to next week cause I have a job there) and my return flight etc.

Thanks and sorry for the extra questions :)

thanks for your response.
I think I will just try going since I have already paid for my accomodation there and may as well make the best of it.
Afraid applying for a visa will take too long and I lose even more money...
