British Passport

Post by dharma26 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 9:50 am

My Son was born after we got ILR. He directly qualified for British Passport. Unfortunately I don't know before. I have taken Indian Passport.

What is the procedure now? Do I have to take ILR? or Can I can still apply for Brtitish Passport?

Also I have seen the British passport application. In the application they are asking about uncancelled passport to be sent along with application. Is there any chance to reject the application? Please help me urgently.

To be able to register as a British citizen use application form MN1 Send the passport alongwith, when its returned and he has a British PP in due course, you can surreneder his Indian PP.
If he is not going to be travelling soon outside the UK he doesnt need ILR.

Born where? In the UK? If so, the child is British by birth and does not require an MN1 application. The child may apply for British passport directly.

Apologies, Sushdmehta is right
A child born in the UK to parents one or both of whom are settled in the UK at the time the child is born
is automatically a British citizen and does not need to be registered.

Having applied for an Indian passport has no affect on the British passport application as the UK allows dual citizenship but there are some procedures to follow with the Indian authorities as India doesn't allow dual citizenship.
