proving right to work when application is still being decide

Post by knight007 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 9:09 pm

My Wife recent applied for settlement through SET(M) a few weeks ago. The problem is that she is thinking of changing jobs and for any potential interview she will need to prove her right to work in the UK. How can she do that if her passport has been submitted to UKBA for processing. How can she go about getting some kind of endorsed letter from the home office saying she can legally still work?

Can your wife wait till she gets her documents back before she changes jobs?

she 'could' wait but she shouldn't really have to make that choice.
Surely UKBA should send something in the post to all applicants so that they can prove their status without a passport.

Hi Knight007, my wife is going through the same thing. Did you ever figure out a way to get evidence of your wife's right to work in the UK? (And I agree, why should anyone have to wait when they have the legal right to work...and are more than willing to do so!!!)

No I didn't get an answer. I tried calling UKBA but I had to hang up due to the long waiting time to speak to an operator

Read this http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/busin ... pport/ecs/

Your current/prospective employer should follow those steps in that link.
