Demonstrating income as a sponsor

Post by pauldm21 » Mon Oct 08, 2012 10:56 pm

I am going to be acting as the sponsor for my wife's Uk Spouse Visa Application, early next year. I am contemplating changing jobs and need to be sure that this is not going to affect my ability to act as a sponsor.

I know I need to demonstrate an income of £18,600 which I can comfortably do at the moment, and would ensure any new employment also met this.

What is the requirement in demonstrating sufficient earnings if you are in new employment? If, for example, I need to show 6 or 12 months of income, can I use a combination from 2 different jobs? Also, is there any rule on a gap in employment (this would only 1 or 2 months).

You have to be employed for the period of 6 months in your current job to meet the requirements. This is to cover probation period in most circumstances.

If you are stuck with this, I would suggest that you prepare your case stronger but their is no guarantee for success:

- Previous job details - role specs included
- Current job details - role specs also included
- Outline similarities to justify change of job due to some reason i.e better pay, relocation etc.
- Employment history showing your professional career in the same line of expertise.

The above should be provided in addition to the normal evidence to satisfy the ECO.

Hope this helps...
