Maintenance Fees

Post by lrwfairs » Wed Oct 10, 2012 4:05 am

I am about to apply for a Tier 4 visa (from Canada to UK). I also want to apply for dependent visas for my partner and our daughter. I am able to show all the required fees for myself. However, for my partner and daughter, we are about £200 short of the required value of £23300. So, what are the chances that if we apply for dependent visas that we will be refused? Any advise regarding this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The absolute maximum amount in any circumstances would be 5400 per dependant application, so in your case 10,800 in total (and even less if studying outside London) so I wonder where you are getting your high numbers from? Additionally, will you be studying a Level 7 course with a HEI as otherwise it's not permitted to bring dependants?

My apologies, the values I previously posted included the tuition fees. So, for maintenance fees (outside London) only, it will cost us a total £15,300 (£7200 + £4050 + £4050).

I am completing my Ph.D. (minimum of 3 years) at a Highly Trusted Sponsor.

So, does that now mean you are not 200 short of the 8100 necessary for your dependants?

Let me reframe my question. Will our (i.e. myself and my dependents) visa applications be rejected if we our total fees (tuition and maintenance) are less than £100 under what is stated on UK Border Agency website? This value tends to fluctuate due to the current exchange rate.

Yes. Do you have another account? Alternatively if you have further funds but have not held them for 28 days you could use this to pay some of your tuition fees to reduce the amount you need to show.

Are you Canadian?
