Financial Requirement for dependant Visa Application

Post by immigrant56 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 10:58 am

Hello all.
I am currently a Tier 4 student in the UK studying a 4 year postgraduate course. I hope to have my wife join me by April next year. On the UKBA website it states:

"Each of your family members will need to show that they (or you) have £450 per month, for each month of your course up to a maximum of nine months"

What does "to a maximum of nine months" mean? I intend to open an account where I will be paying in £450 monthly.

1)For how long will I need to pay in this money?
2) How soon can she apply for her visa?
3) Will I need to show proof of funding for myself as well when she makes her application or proof of funding for her alone?
4) How much in total will the bank statement need to show for her to satisfy the financial requirement for a dependent visa for Tier 4?

Thanks.

It means that even if your course is longer than 9 months, the maximum maintenance is 9 x 450 = 4050. You need to have held the full amount up front at the time of applying.

Thanks for reply Lucapooka.

You said "maximum maintenance" of 4050, does that mean less amount than this will suffice?

Will I also need to show proof of maintenance funds for myself?

Thank you.

Well, and perhaps you don't need to be studying for 4 year post-grad course to be capable of figuring this out, it could be less if your course if for less than than nine months. Otherwise, for people in your situation, 4050 is the ceiling.

"£450 per month, for each month of your course up to a maximum of nine months"

The clarification was helpful. This --> "and perhaps you don't need to be studying for 4 year post-grad course to be capable of figuring this out" wasn't too helpful though. Nor was it necessary. Nevertheless, thank you.

That's what he does actually, i.e answering your queries and then ridiculing. He seems to consider himself the ultimate guru who knows everything but lacks ettiquettes. Moderators also seem to ignore this behaviour on this forum. :D

P.s moderators: Feel free to block my account or what ever if you think I am wrong. Oh and I won't be using any other account to access this forum. IT guys have the IP addresses after all.

Or mine! At least remove the unbidden guru appellation; I certainly did not ask for that and nor would I make such a claim.
