How early can someone apply for 2nd tier 1 extension

How early can someone apply for 2nd tier 1 extension

Hi All,

This forum has always been of great help.

I would like to know,

How early can someone apply for his/her Tier-1 -2nd extension.Can we apply 9-10 months prior to the expiry of the current visa.

Can we apply without mentioning any reason in the covering letter?(Have browsed few posts, where it says that we should have a valid reason for early extension.)

Has anyone recently applied for early extension and got their visa without any hassels.
