Switching from Tier2 ICT to Tier2 General

Hi All,

I have entered UK with Tier2 ICT sponsored by my employer on Aug 2009 to work at clients place in UK. Later my VISA got extended in Nov-2010 as Tier-2 ICT Established Staff Leave to remain. Now my VISA is getting expired in Nov-2012 and my company is not extending my visa now due to overseas travel policies.

As I have already spend more that 3 years in this country, I am looking forward to switch into Tier2 General Category(Seems a possible option) If anyone could advise me on the below queries would be helpful.

1) When should I resign my current employer?
2) If I get new visa, can I continue to work with my current employer to serve a month notice period?

If your current visa expires in Nov 2012 you are running out of time.

To switch to Tier 2 General you will need a CoS from a new sponsor in order to apply for leave to remain and the application should be made before your current leave expires. Are you close to being assigned a CoS?

You cannot work in your current employment beyond the Nov 2012 expiry date of your visa. Your sponsor knows that, and doesn't want to continue employing you, so giving notice is academic.

If I put the resignation when I get VISA, can I serve the remaining period of my notice from India if I get a VISA by the time.
