Query reg issue of new leave at PEO

Hi,
I am currently in tier 1 General visa which expires on 4th Jan 2013. Today morning i found an appointment for 1st Dec 2012 for PEO Glasgow. I need to know will the case worker grant my new visa from 5th Jan 2013 or will they grant visa from 1st Dec 2012. Do i need to look for appointment for 5th Dec to avoid confusion?
