Eligibility to get permanent resident

Post by anandaselvan » Fri Oct 26, 2012 5:23 pm

I am in U.K under Tier-2 (ICT) Visa. I stayed in this country on the following period.

Feb-2007 to Jan -2009
Oct-2009 to Jan- 2012

Now I am in U.K since Sep-2012 and may stay upto Apr- 2014.

Is there a possibility of applying for permanent resident in U.K?

Thanks.

No, the break from Jan to Oct 09 and the break from Jan to Sep 12, both served to reset your five year residence period. If you can manage to remain in the UK without breaking residence, you will be eligible for ILR in Jan 2017. However, it's not clear that you will be able to continue as a T2 migrant for that length of time.

Not before Sep 2017, IMHO.

Yes, I mis-read the last date of entry.

Hi All,

Just wondering if you do get a visa on PBS Tier 2 for initial 3 years and you extend it after the first 3 years for another 3 which totals to 6 years, are you not eligible to apply for an ILR on the 5th year under the same sponsor from June 2012 onwards. Please correct me if I am wrong does a holder of Tier 2 general visa cannot apply for ILR on completion of 5 years in UK or one can only remain for 6 years in total on such a visa from June 2012.

Please advise.
