Tier 2 ICT visa to contracting work

I recently moved in the UK sometime around June 2012 under Tier 2 ICT (Long Term Staff Migrant) 3yrs visa with an IT company and going forward I wish to get into some independent contracting work but looks like my visa status won't allow me to work with any other employer at the moment or do contracting work.

So what's the process if someone wants to move out from the current employer and work independently or do some contracting... I was reading things around ILR etc but forgive me if this question was answered previously on this forum...

Need some advice on the next steps etc..

btw if I have relatives here, can they sponsor me? if yes, then what kind of visa will that be ?
