Tier 1 dependent visa - Marriage certificate attestation

Post by sizzler » Sun Oct 28, 2012 2:48 pm

We are applying for my husband's Tier 1 dependent visa from Kolkata, India.
Our marriage registration certificate has a stamp on it saying it needs to be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi before it can be used with foreign missionaries in India.

Is attestation of the marriage registration certificate mandatory in order to apply for the Tier 1 dependent visa?

Anyone who has successfully applied in India and can share their experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
RB.

If the certificate itself has a stamp that states that the certificate must be attested by MEA (in other words, will have legal value only then) before being used for immigration purposes, it is unlikely that UKBA will accept the certificate without the attestation.
