Could changing address just before ILR be a problem?

Post by satmvv » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:44 pm

Hi, I am a work permit holder, due to finish my 5 year period on 28th of January 2013. I am planning to apply for ILR for myself and my wife (currently on work permit dependant visa) on 10th of January 2013. We are currently renting a flat and have been living here for nearly 4.5 years. Now that we are expecting a baby in March we are looking to move to another rental property and the earliest we can move is December 1st, meaning we would've stayed just over a month at the new addres when we apply for ILR. Does anyone know if home office would take any issue with that? I will have rental agreement and hopefully some utility bills for one month at the new address, not sure if I could get new council tax bills on time.

We could possibly shift after getting ILR but that will delay sending paper work to India for my mother-in-law who is planning to come over here by March. And, I am not sure if it's a good idea to change addresses whilst my mother-in-law's visa is being processed.

Would be grateful if anyone could help me get over this dilemma.

Thanks,
Murthy

Dec change of address should not be a problem for Jan ILR application. Just make sure all pertinent documents show the appropriate address, including the Cohab ones.

Also should not be an issue for your MiL's visa application.
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.

Keep new address council tax bill, Utility (mainly water bill) bill, Telephone bill and before apply get a letter from GP. These documents also will use as cohab support. Dont forget to change address for driving licence and car regestration document.

Thanks very much indeed for the quick response. For cohab we have both our names on the council tax bill and bank statement since 2009 when she joined me in the UK. Unfortunately haven't added her name to utility bills or the rental agreement, though I am planning to get a letter from our current landlord stating that period we've been lviing together at her residence. Wonder if that should suffice?
