ILR Appointment date - 28 rule please advise

Hi

My current Work Permit is valid until 08.01.2013. What is the earliest I can book my appointment for? I booked an appointment for 11.12.2012, which I thought is 28 days, but now not 100% sure.

Can some please advise?
