Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate it. I am beginning to suspect if I should put a different number for passport in the online status enquiry. as I am a US citizen. As some of you suggested I will apply for tourist visa... but I hate to spend £70 more after having applied for OCI more than 12 weeks before my travel date.

Can I contact the consulate if I do not see any updates after 12 weeks of submission.
