Ancestral visa self employed overseas contracts & ILR

Post by gypsy.of.the.sea » Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:09 pm

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could please give me some advice...

I am in the UK on an ancestral visa. I hope to apply for ILR in 2017.

I have the opportunity to do some exciting work for a South African company by working remotely from here. This project might last for a couple of years, so I am just worried about it affecting my ILR.

I know I need to work or intend to work in the UK, so I thought I could register as self-employed and take on this work on a contract basis, paying all the necessary taxes etc. Would this qualify as "work in the UK"?

I really do not want to negatively influence my future ILR application by doing this, so any advice about the way forward would be hugely appreciated!

Yes, that's fine.
