who to contact about financial requirements

Post by Carol-Montreal » Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:50 pm

Hello,

Could anyone advise me on the best way to contact the UK border agency with a question about the financial requirements for a spousal settlement visa. I am British, husband Russian. I want to ask how my fixed income of 10,000 pounds p.a. from a non-employment source would affect the amount of savings required.

We've applied for many successful visit visas before. If the spousal settlement visa process is done in a similar way, I guess it's very difficult to ask anyone specific questions along the way.

Thank you!

Generally, they don't respond to questions of that nature. There is information readily available on the UKBA site.

The financial requirements for a spouse visa can be found here

Basically, if you have an income of 10K, you will need to have savings of 37,500 to be eligible. You would need to have held this amount for six months before submitting the application.

many thanks -- do you know if shares held by me have to be cashed in 6 months' prior too? Or can that be done closer to submission of papers?

Shares will not be considered. Savings in lieu of income have to be in cash.

E-ECP.3.2.(a) and E-ECC.2.2.(a) of Appendix FM).
(d) All income and savings must be lawfully derived.
(e) Savings must be held in cash.
