New British e-passport for my baby daughter

Post by dex123 » Thu Nov 08, 2012 3:02 pm

This is just a question out of curiosity. I have a British passport which I got last year. We just had a baby a few months back and yesterday got the British passport for her as well.

While looking at my daughter's passport there was no chip visible in the page where there are her details along with her photo. The leaflets that came with the passport still said that it is an e-passport and it has the chip symbol on the front (outside the passport). Also the photo page is thin like all other pages (while in my own British passport the photo page is thick and there is clearly a chip visible at the back of it).

Just trying to see if it is normal?

Just called them. It seems the design of the passport has now changed and the chip is not visible any more.

Hi dex, I too will be applying for a passport for my newborn daughter, could you please tell me how long the childs passport is valid for, how much did it cost and how long did it take once you submitted the application.

Kind Regards Ted

Thanks very much MPH80, I sometimes do google these things but some of the time I seem to get dodgy sites usually trying to sell you there services.
Anyway it says on that site usually 5 yrs validity for a child under 16, though my child is a new born so I was expecting a much shorter period.

Thank again :D
