Second extension needed?

Post by rtp2111 » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:41 pm

Hi,

I have T1 General visa issued from 7-Jan2011 to 7-Jan2013. I enterted UK on 20-Feb2012. i.e. after 45 days.

I have my extension appointment scheduled on 19Nov'12. If I am granted the extension from 19Nov'12 to 19Nov'15, I will definitity need a second extension for my ILR. However, If I cancel the appointment on 19Nov and try to reschedule after 10th Dec (28 days before expiry) then my new visa would be valid till 7-Jan2016.
Would I need a second extension to qualify for ILR even in this case?

I am in a dilemma if I should go ahead for 19Nov or try to get an appoinment after 10Dec. If I need second extension in both cases I would prefer to keep the appointment on 19Nov.
Can someone clarify please?

Thanks.

any specific reason that you are going with PEO appointment? I had made postal applications it took 135 days ( i know its painful to wait for so long). my earlier visa was expiring on 22 jul 2012 but my extension is valid till 27 oct 2015 so effectively i have got an extension for 3 y 3 m. and i have seen several examples on trackitt who got more than 3 yrs extension.

you can give this a thought and save some money...

I dont wish to be without passport and restrict my travel outside UK while the postal application is being processed.
So, it means whatever PEO date i go for I will need second extension anyways as my first entry was delayed by 45 days ?

As per the latest guidance, you should be able to get an ILR without a second extension if the delay is only 45 days.
